| Description: Gordon Fox-Running Brainerd of the Quinnipiac Tribal Council will discuss how the Quinnipiac tribe lost land in Greater New Haven at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, in Alumni Hall at Quinnipiac University. The free event is open to the public.
Brainerd, a medicine man who performs religious ceremonies for the tribe, will explain how the Puritans gave the Quinnipiac tribe 1,200 acres of land, which was slowly taken away over the years. The Quinnipiac tribe gave the last 30 acres of land to colonials in exchange for land in Waterbury in the early 1700s. When the tribe went to Waterbury to claim the land, they discovered it was sold.
