Area high schools are invited to participate in Quinnipiac University’s 13th High School Computer Programming Competition, which will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at Quinnipiac University, 275 Mount Carmel Ave. The competition will start in Tator Hall, Room 107, at Quinnipiac and move to other campus locations throughout the day.

Each high school is invited to send up to two teams to the competition. Each team should include no more than three students and an adviser who is required to accompany the students. Additional teams may be placed on a waiting list and will be added after registration is closed in the order registration is received.

During the competition, students will work together to solve a wide range of problems. Scoring will be based on whether the submitted program compiles and runs, and whether it solves the specified problem. The team that solves the most problems wins; ties will be broken by the time of the last successful submission. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

The computer science and software engineering programs in the School of Engineering will provide one computer per team. Each team can bring any paper-based references to the competition.

The competition is free, and the registration deadline is April 13. To register, please contact Mark Hoffman, professor of computer science and software engineering at Quinnipiac, at Mark.Hoffman@qu.edu or call 203-582-8449.
