Quinnipiac University

PA Program White Coat Ceremony

Fifty-four physician assistant graduates from Quinnipiac University will be awarded certificates and white coats before taking the Physician Assistant Professional Oath on Saturday, Aug. 11 on the York Hill Campus.

The ceremony, which will take place at 11 a.m. in the People’s United Center, marks the end of the students’ classroom learning as they prepare to work with patients across America.

“The white coat ceremony is a rite of passage to mark a student’s transition from their role as a student to their career in the healthcare profession as a medical provider,” said Sheree Piperidis, clinical associate professor of physician assistant studies. “It is at this time that the students leave behind their short white coat, which identifies them as a student, for their long white coat, which symbolizes their equality to practicing medical providers.

“At this formal ceremony, the students hold up their right hand and recite the Hippocratic Oath to demonstrate their commitment to following the expectations and responsibilities that are the foundation of the medical profession,” Piperidis added.
