More Than A Few Good Men: A Lecture on American Manhood and Violence Against Women

The Connecticut Women's Consortium and the Quinnipiac Department of Social Work are holding a conference on gender violence. The program begins at 9 a.m.

Jackson Katz, an internationally acclaimed educator, author, filmmaker and social theorist on gender violence, will be the keynote speaker. Katz will introduce participants to a creative new way of conceptualizing the role of men in what historically have been considered “women’s issues.” With a combination of exercises and discussion, Katz will share a series of strategies for inspiring men to work in collaboration with women to change the social norms that tolerate sexist or abusive behaviors.

The fee for the program is $75 and includes lunch. Participants are eligible to receive six continuing education units from the CT Association of Social Workers (NASW), Continuing Medical Education (CME) and the CT Certification Board (CCB).
